The TideTec team has been traveling – this week we have visited TUM in Munich and Mareval in Hamburg to go through some of the initial results of the Eurostar Safe*Coast project. The results look highly interesting and positive from TideTecs’ side, as TUM indicate a significant efficiency gain in a barrage / tidal lagoon for a reversible tidal turbine with the ability to pump, compared to one way operating regimes. The results are still to be confirmed, but the initial results gives us a serious boost regarding the faith in our technology. In addition, the meetings at Mareval indicate that a floating caisson is a very robust method with great promise.
